About Me

Who Am I?

Hello, and welcome. I’m Sam, the founder of SC Sport Psychology and a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training (SEPiT) based in West Berkshire. I provide sport psychology services to athletes, teams, and performers across the surrounding areas, as well as throughout the UK through flexible online and in-person delivery.

Alongside my academic training, my applied practice is informed by a lifelong involvement in sport, particularly football and competitive martial arts. Competing at national level has given me a first-hand appreciation of the demands of preparation, competition, and performing under pressure.

The majority of my applied experience has involved working with amateur athletes, supporting individuals to develop the psychological skills needed to enhance performance, manage competitive demands, and enjoy their sport.

My practice is evidence-based, athlete-centred, and tailored to the unique needs of each individual. I combine strong academic foundations with practical sporting experience to provide support that is both scientifically informed and personally relevant. As I continue to develop my applied practice through supervised training, I take a careful and methodical approach, drawing on well-established psychological theories and interventions with a strong evidence base. At the same time, I recognise that no two performers are the same, so I work collaboratively with each client to develop strategies that reflect their goals, sporting environment, and individual circumstances.

Transparency and collaboration are central to my approach. Throughout the support process, I ensure that clients understand not only the decisions we make together but also the reasoning behind them. By fostering open communication and shared understanding, I aim to build trusting relationships that empower clients to take an active role in their own development and performance.
